Community and environment
Supporting local communities and managing environmental impacts are central to our proposal.
The project is being designed with the aim of reducing disruption where possible, improving local and regional connectivity, and delivering long-term environmental and economic benefits alongside new airport infrastructure.
Land and property
We understand that land and property matters are deeply personal. They relate not just to land but to people’s homes, businesses, livelihoods and communities. We recognise that any potential requirement to develop an area of land can create uncertainty and concern, and we are committed to approaching this with care, respect and transparency.
Our approach to land and property is grounded in the requirements of the Government’s ANPS, which sets out how airport expansion should be delivered while properly addressing impacts on communities. Within this framework, we are developing a scheme that is proportionate to its land requirements and responsive to the people and places it may affect.
Noise impact
Our proposal is being designed with a focus on understanding and reducing noise impacts, where possible.
We will assess noise and vibration using national standards and will carry out detailed surveys to understand current conditions before assessing any changes. Once the expected noise impacts have been determined, we will be able to work out the types and levels of mitigation measures required to reduce potential adverse effects. Communities and other stakeholders will be consulted on appropriate and effective measures – this will be included in future consultations.
Air quality
We recognise that air quality is a major concern for people living and working near Heathrow. Our proposal will be designed with a strong focus on reducing air quality impacts during both construction and operation.
Air quality will be assessed in line with UK guidance and standards, using established modelling methods to understand potential effects.
Ecology and biodiversity
An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) will be undertaken as part of the DCO process for Heathrow West.
The long-term objective of Heathrow West is to create a long-term positive legacy for wildlife and protected sites.
In line with the ANPS, the EIA will measure and report the carbon and greenhouse gas emissions associated with Heathrow West. This will cover the full life cycle of the development, including both construction and operation, and will use a reasonable worst-case approach to ensure impacts are fully assessed.
Jobs and skills
The Arora Group already makes a significant contribution to local employment, with the majority of our Heathrow workforce living in nearby boroughs.
Heathrow West will build on this by creating further jobs and apprenticeships, and supporting local supply chains and airport-related businesses, particularly in surrounding communities.
We will work with local colleges and training providers and will use established programmes, such as the Arora Apprenticeships scheme, to help ensure local people can access these opportunities.
Local economic benefits
Our proposal aims to deliver significant long-term economic benefits locally and nationally. Heathrow West will support job creation during construction and operation, strengthen supply chains, and create new opportunities for local businesses.
Our proposal is designed to help support trade, tourism and investment, and contributing to wider economic growth across the UK.
